She, gentle and shy,

Shy as a fawn,

Thrives at night,

And disappears at dawn.

Hides on my sighting,

And emerges on my leaving,

Climbs the walls,

With undaunted glee.

Shiny and slimy,

Swift and helpless,

S**ts and desecrates,

Every hallowed space.

Eats whatever she likes,

Likes whatever she wants,

Wants whatever she gets,

And gets whatever she finds.

Though harmless,

Wild thoughts Cross my mind,

“Smash her “, the poor little gecko.

But I let her live.
